Advice

Most scams work the same way. They create urgency, keep you off balance, and push you to pay before you’ve had time to verify what’s real.

If you remember one rule, make it this: pause before you pay.

Rental Scams (Deposits & “Landlords”)

If you’re asked to pay a holding deposit before a proper viewing, treat it as high risk.

Be especially careful when the “landlord” says they’re abroad, can’t meet, can’t show documents, or wants to “post the keys” after payment. A genuine rental can be verified. A scam relies on excuses and speed.

Never send money to a third party “agent”, a friend, a cousin, or a name that doesn’t match the business or landlord story.

New Bank Details, Invoice Fraud & Supplier Risk

One of the most common business scams is a simple email that says bank details have changed.

Fraudsters copy branding, email signatures, and tone. They wait for the right moment and then push you to update payment details “immediately” to avoid late fees or delays.

If payment details change, verify through a trusted route. Don’t reply to the email. Don’t use the number in the email. Use a known number you already trust.

Company Claims That Don’t Make Sense

If a company claims they’re worth billions, have huge contracts, or “guarantee” returns, slow it down.

Big claims should come with a real footprint. When the story is louder than the evidence, something is wrong.

Common Pressure Tactics

Scammers push urgency because urgency beats logic.

They’ll say the deal will be gone, someone else is paying, the property is “secured today only”, or the fee must be paid now to proceed.

If you feel rushed, that feeling might be the warning sign.

What To Do If You’re Not Sure

If anything feels off, stop and verify.

Save screenshots. Keep the links. Note the name, number, email address, bank details, and the exact payment request. The details matter.

Send it to NexLink before you pay and we’ll tell you what’s real, what isn’t, and the safest next step.

Request a Check

If you want a quick verification, use our contact page and send what you have.

Even if it turns out to be genuine, you’ll have peace of mind. If it’s not, you’ll be glad you paused.
